GondarLink is very happy indeed to be a major supporter of the wonderful work that Kate Ferede Eshete is doing with The Kindu Trust out in Gondar (find out about the Kindu Trust in the left menu).

We have asked all of the school links under our auspices to consider supporting some of the Kindu children and we are proud to think that at this moment there are over 15 Kindu children being helped in this way on a regular basis. More information will be here shortly about the children that each school supports but for now read about two special boys that are being helped.

GondarLink's Challoner's - Fasiledes school link directly supports two children in Gondar.

For many years, Dr Challoner's supported a lad called Abebe Hailemariam who is profoundly deaf and very much in need of support and reassurance. From being an unhappy and uncared for little boy living on the streets of Gondar, Abebe became a smiling and much more confident youth. He is still unsure as to what he eventually wants to do but, as he has now passed the age when The Kindu Trust give their support to children, GondarLink has decided to continue to offer support to his very poor family by transferring the sponsorship to his younger brother, Alemeshet Mamo.

Dr Challoner's also supports a much younger lad called Ayeto Teshome, who lives in the poorest conditions imaginable on the edge of the town. He is a Downs Syndrome boy but greets life with a gentle and friendly smile despite his circumstances. We feel that Ayeto is also a very worthy focus for a little of our GondarLink funds, and his family are able to live more decently because of this sponsorship
