Ethiopia on the web

Linking schools in England and Ethiopia has proved to be a huge success. Each link has enabled students and teachers in both countries to learn about each other and to support each other. Hundreds of letters pass between students on a regular basis and books, computers and other resources have found their way into the Gondar schools and libraries.

The pioneering school link, Challoner's - Fasiledes (now split into two links with the separate Fasiledes Preparatory and Secondary schools) has grown from strength to strength, ultimately forming today's GondarLink charity. A corner-stone of the Challoner's - Fasiledes link is the very successful GondarGap scheme, pairs of young volunteer teachers who live in Gondar and teach English Communication Skills to small groups of enthusiastic students.

The number of links between schools of all types is growing all the time, and proves to be just as positive and productive between infants schools in England and Gondar as it is between secondary schools and Sixth Form colleges. The activities involved in each link vary considerably, often depending on the ages of the pupils concerned. Learn more details by clicking on the various links below. And don't forget to revisit this page often, as new developments are occurring all the time.
