The link between Dr Challoner's and the Fasiledes General Secondary School was, in a sense, slow to materialise. Recent changes in the structure of Ethiopian schooling meant that our original and pioneering school link had suddenly become duplicated.
This second link joins our 'main' school with the Fasiledes Secondary students, and we have now realised the huge disparity that exists in resourcing between the two Fasiledes schools. While letter-writing, GondarGap teaching and GondarMail contacting is continuing smoothly, we have decided that the Secondary school is in desperate need of decent library resources. We have therefore set in place plans to build a brand new library on the Fasiledes site and to equip it thoroughly and quickly with furniture and books.
The Director of the Secondary School is an old friend, Ato Melkamu, who was originally director of the combined Fasiledes school when GondarLink began. Another long-term friend, Ato Woldie, is steering the link's activities in the Secondary School, and a team of teachers is working enthusiastically and positively to make sure that our relationship is productive and exciting.
