Brushwood School is situated on a hill high over the ancient Buckinghamshire town of Chesham. The valley of the River Chess runs below and the Brushwood School caters for the local children before they pass on to places of secondary education one of which is Dr. Challoner's Grammar School the base for GondarLink's work.
Brushwood's small site is well cared for and is full of enthusiastic and laughing children. The Meseret link is run by teacher Liz Chaplin and enthusiastically supported by the head teacher Ray Plimsaul. Liz helps her children write letters and paint pictures that are sent to the Meseret School. She is also fundraising to help the Gondar school with some of its basic needs.
The Meseret School itself is on the edge of Gondar quite close to the Fasiledes School. It has just recently been asked to take on a wider range of pupils and now matches Brushwood in educating people up until their transfer to secondary school. The Director of the school is Ato Tadege, and the very vibrant Wayzero Berie looks after the link at the Gondar end. The Meseret children have shown themselves to be excellent artists and have sent the Brushwood pupils almost a hundred fine pictures of Ethiopian life, historic sites and Ethiopian animals. These have formed the basis for some fine displays at the Brushwood School. Have you signed our Guestbook? |
